Force and Motion

There is no better place to study Forces and Motion than a playground! Today we headed outside to find all the ways we could push and pull on the playground to create movements! Here is what we found:

Emergency Message from the Noses in Grade One and Two

We are officially out of Kleenex and the students have declared an emergency!  If you would please send a box, or two, next week so that we can continue breathing (quoted from a student) it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much!

Viewing

Today the students did a blog post about viewing skills.  They commented on a picture and discussed their Connections (that reminds me of), Questions (I wonder) and Movement (I know there is movement because).

My Smart Little People ~ Making Connections

All year we work on making connections to what we see, what we read, and what we hear.  Our conversations start with "That reminds me of.."

Every morning we have a viewing picture and we continue to work on making connections.  These are a few examples of what I hear during the morning lessons on connections. I have the smartest little people in my room!

This reminds me of the movie "The Notebook"
This reminds me of Hogwarts from Harry Potter.
This reminds me of the weather this morning.

This reminds me of Skittles because of the colour.
This reminds me of the Professor Snape's class on how to make potions.
This makes me think of a rainbow.
This reminds me of colouring Easter eggs.

Knock Knock

Today your child will bring home a small book of Knock Knock jokes ~ sorry. Hehe

Spring Sentences

This morning the students did a blog post about a crocus.  We have been working on building better sentences by using adjectives (description words).  Our blog post shows how we build upon a sentence to make it more interesting.
