February Break Reading Bingo
Today your child is bringing home a February Break Reading Bingo page. We encourage you to read with your child over break, and use the bingo as a way to add some excitement to the reading.
Each LINE gives you one entry into the prize giveaway, and a FULL bingo card gives you 10 entries.
Two of our students in Grade One were given prizes today as a result of the Christmas Reading Bingo, so congratulations to Ty and Alyza!
Have a wonderful February break and happy reading!

The 100th Day
On Tuesday, February 27th we will be celebrating the 100th day of school! To celebrate we will be dressing up as 100 year old people!
We also ask that you send 100 items for snack. This can be 100 of something (Cheerios, pretzels, etc) OR it can be a combination of things (25 crackers, 25 cheese cubes, 25 pickle slices and 25 pepperoni cubes).
Thank you for your participation and support of this day. It is an exciting day of celebration and learning for the students!

2018 Olympics
This was our viewing picture today.
I have some pretty smart kids in my room...
"That looks like the show on my TV last night!"
"I see rings on his jacket and that's the Olympic logo!"
I then tell the class "What if I told you that this person is from Regina?"
"There are no mountains in Regina Mrs. Elder!"
"How did he learn to snowboard with no mountains?"
"Where did he practice snowboarding if he is from Regina?"
"I think that's the snowboarder from my Cheerios box!"

Home Reading and LLI
Once again I want to thank you all for your continued to support with our classroom reading!
I am continuing to send home one reading book each night. Some of the students who are also reading with our LLI program have asked to still take our classroom books home. The LLI program is the first priority BUT if students have time and want to read the classroom books, that's fantastic!
Please let me know if you feel the LLI program AND our classroom reading is too much, and we will adjust. I am excited to hear that the students are wanting to take my classroom books home and that most of the books are "too easy"!
Thanks again, and happy reading!

Reading
I want to thank all of you who have been doing the nightly reading. The consistent reading of "Good Fit" books has already changed how many of the students read. I can see and hear improvements each day when I read with them.
Thanks for your help ~ we appreciate it.

Love and Cookies at the Library
Today we journeyed to the Palliser Library where Giselle Wilson treated us to some great Valentine's Day stories about love and friendship. We then decorated 2 cookies: one to eat and one to share! Here are a few pictures of our exciting afternoon!
