Friday

This Friday we will be doing activities for Family Literacy Day and students from K-6 have been asked to wear PJs on Friday.  We are also going skating Friday afternoon so...

Please send ski pants or a change of clothes (especially pants) so that your child can be comfortable and warm when skating for the afternoon.  Thanks!

In-Motion Project

This week our K-6 classes participated in a Saskatchewan In-Motion project that will be shared with representatives at the provincial SUMA (Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association) meeting next month.  Our artwork will be shared with representatives to encourage their support in providing safe and fun outdoor spaces for children to play.

Have a look at what our Birch Slice artwork!

Skating

Our class will be going skating on Wednesday and Friday.  Please send skates, proper clothing and any other items (see below) on those mornings.

The wearing of helmets is at your own discretion, although we strongly encourage you to send one with your child.

If your child wants to play shinny, they MUST have a helmet, hockey gloves and a stick.

Student Blog Posts

Last week, in the middle of that nasty cold weather, the students posted their thoughts about Winter.  Have a look, and feel free to comment and share with family.

Home Reading

Today we (the students made most of the decisions) decided on additional home reading routine.  Your child will bring home ONE book each evening to read.  Students decided that each book should be read 5 times and they also thought of WHO they could read to and WHERE they could read.

We also made a promise sheet that shows all of what the students decided during our discussion.

Your child will bring home their first book this evening and will exchange for a new one tomorrow. Please use these books for their journals as well.

Thanks and happy reading!

Real vs Fantasy

We continue to work on our viewing skills and have started discussing how we can't believe everything we see.  I have shown them pictures and we have started to discuss the concept of  Photoshop, and how computers can make almost anything look real.  Here are a few examples of the pictures we have been discussing AND a video clip that also shows the magic of computers. (the child's father works at a production studio and started turning their home movies into magical experiences)

Snacks and Lunches

Just a reminder to please check all items being sent to school for snacks and lunches.  We have severe peanut allergies in the elementary end and want to make sure that everyone is safe.

Thank you!
