Blog Posts

Today we posted about the eagles we have been studying.  We were excited for the next few weeks but mother nature has taught us a valuable lesson about the wild.

Read our posts here and please ask your child about the happenings in the nest over the last few days.

Bald Eagle Observation

For the last few weeks we have been observing a bald eagle nest in Hanover, Pennsylvania.  We began our study of how they used the materials around them to build an enormous nest.  Watching the two adult eagles (named Liberty and Freedom) is now part of our Science Unit on Living and Non Living Things. We have watched them build their nest, lay two eggs, and now we wait.  We wait and watch them sit on the eggs to keep them at a constant temperature.

Today we discussed how hard parenting is.  That sometimes being a Mom or a Dad is no fun at all.  For the eagles, today was one of those days.

This is what they were facing today as parents.
And yes there is in eagle under there.

Student Led Conferences

This week we have Student Led Conferences so here are a few reminders to keep in mind:

You and your child will have 15 minutes scheduled on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make the scheduled time so that we can reschedule.

The 15 minutes that is scheduled is used for your child to share what they have learned over the past few months and for the adults to ask them questions. Times are coordinated school wide so we will need to stay on schedule.

If you have concerns in regards to your child, another time can be scheduled with the teachers involved.  We will use the 15 minutes to hear about their growth and success.

Thanks and see you this week!

Snacks

As part of our Living and Non-Living Things unit in Science, we are studying where our food is grown.  We will be categorizing our snacks into these 4 areas: In a Tree, On a Vine, Under the Ground, On the Ground.

Many of the healthy snacks you send will not fall into this category, and that is absolutely fine.  Please know that we are categorizing the fruit and vegetables that are sent, and not expecting you to change your current snack routines.

School Supplies

Please check with your child to see how their supply of crayons, pencil crayons and markers are doing.  Many kids are almost out of crayons and pencil crayons.

Thanks!
