Comprehension Homework Sheet

Today your child will bring home a sheet called "Comprehension Check".  We ask that it be completed this evening and returned to school tomorrow morning.  We have discussed the expectations and instructions with the students but here is an overview of them:

1) These will go home EVERY Monday and must be returned on Tuesday morning.
2) We ask that the work be done as independently as possible by the student.  You can help with the reading or printing for example, but please allow the students to find the answers on their own as much as possible.
3) Students must document how their answers were found by coloring the  answer within the passage with the requested color.
4) Answers must be done in a complete sentence, in their best printing.

For the first few times we do this activity, prompting and some direction from you may be necessary. We hope that the students can build independent work habits and confidence in this skill as the weeks go on.  For the first few weeks the reading level may be too easy for your child.  As the weeks and comprehension skills progress we will increase the level of reading to suit each child as best we can.

Thank you for the continued support and help at home!
